Best. Game. Ever (For me, currently)
I recently grabbed this game called Severance: Blade of Darkness. This game is a 3d third person game where you play as 1 of 4 characters (Knight, Dwarf, Amazon, Barbarion) in an extremely beautiful and epic single player adventure. It is far more beautiful than Neverwinter Nights will ever be, and the main reason I enjoy this more than I enjoyed Neverwinter Nights is because the fighting is skill based, not luck based. In NWN, you would simply click on a monster, and your guy runs in and fights with him in an entirely luck based battle involving dice. In Blade of Darkness, you actually have full control over the battle. You have a bunch of various attacks, combos, and during the battle there is a lot of ducking, dodging, and jumping from side to side as you try to avoid the incoming sword of your enemy. There are tons of weapons to choose from, many with different atributes, which give many different fighting styles to choose from. Large swords, small swords, axes, spears, double swords, double axes, long bows, crossbows, light bows, and many many others. There are tons of enemies too, each one unique, and each with its own fighting style. For instance, the orcs are very agressive, and very clumsy (dodge em once and you can hit em in the back easily). Other monsters, however, are far more clever fighters. Dark Knights are not as agressive and foolish as the orcs are, and they will never show you their back. The fighting system is more than amazing. It creates the most realistic looking battles I have ever seen in a game. You can dodge, block with a shield, and your enemy can do it all as well. It takes alot of skill to be able to fight a battle well, and in almost every battle you will get hurt quite a bit (unless you're really good).

Another amazing feature (but a rather gory one, yet it does add to the feel of the game) is the limb system. You can completely take off limbs when done right, and different areas have appropriate hitpoints. For instance, if you swing and hit an orc in the torso, you will not too that much damage because they are wearing armour. An orc can also easily block your sword with his shield if you swing in the wrong place, which will leave you an open target. But, if you swing in the right place at the right time, you can get one kit kills by taking off their head, leg, or arm. Although this feature is incredibly gory (Which also includes some stuff I really shouldn't mention on these forums) it makes the game far better. It sounds gross, but it really adds to the feel of the game, and its realistic fighting system. Another feature includes then being able to pick up any severed limbs and beat others with it (It was really funny when I first chopped off an orcs leg, then picked up the leg and started beating the same orc over the head with his own leg until he fell down, but it is only funny the first time). Being able to do things like this makes the game far more enjoyable for me, since I have only been waiting my entire life for a realistic skill based sword fighting game that wasn't afraid to make it as realistic as possible. (Note: You can turn this off if you don't like it). Another feature that I really like is the rips and cuts that will appear on your character if he is hurt. But, where these cuts appear arn't set. If an enemy hits your arm with his sword, a large slash mark will appear on your arm, but not anywhere else on your body. If he hits your leg, then a slash mark will appear on your leg, but not on your arm. This applies to every area of your body, again making it more realistic/fun.

All these features added together in a very good plot, a simply beautiful world and amazing and well done levels makes this my favourite game at the moment. You should check it out too.
I believe the official page is http://www.codemastersusa.com/blade/ (Btw, please don't mention how the gore makes the game bad in your reply, as mentioned above all the gore can be turned off if you don't like playing with it

EDIT: A couple things I forgot to mention about the visuals...

- It has a full dynamic lighting engine, creating awesome effects and realistic shadows everywhere (An in-game shot of the dynamic lighting here
- A beautiful particle system (seen in the shot above)
- AMAZING water reflections here
