Commander+defining buttons bug?

There's a bug I think with defining buttons while commander, because when I was commander and hit ESC>options and tried to define a key, it jammed my game. It not only tried changing the defined key, but also seemed to be a working commander shortcut, despite being in the options menu.
Next time I won't try defining buttons while commander, but surely this will catch other players out?
