Starts up but no menu

Just updated the game. The game will load but there will be no menu or anything to click on. It doesnt freeze thought, the light flickers and the animations plays and loops, same with the music.

Here is what it looks like:

In your Natural Selection 2 Steam directory (normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2) there is a program called TechSupport.exe. Can you run that and then e-mail the zip file it generates to me at max@unknownworlds.com?

Natural Selection 2 uses the newer SteamPipe system for downloading files through Steam, and it seems that sometimes this is causing installations to be incomplete. We really need the information that the TechSupport tool captures so we can work with Valve to solve these problems.

    Also,
Ensure mumble is not running if you have it installed.
Did you ever install the mod, "Server Enhancer" ? It has known issues with removing the main menu.

So you've tried the following, yes?

    1. run dxsetup in drive/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/natural selection 2/redist/directx/
    Its about half way down.
    2. Delete the files in drive/users/user/appdata/roaming/natural selection 2 **NOTE YOU NEED BE ABLE TO SEE HIDDEN FOLDERS SINCE THIS IS A HIDDEN FOLDER.
    - On win7 to show hidden folders click on organize>folder and search options>view check "show hidden files, folders and drives under hidden files and folders.
    3. Delete the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\shader
    4. Go on Steam, go to Natural selection 2, right click>properties>local files> verify integrity of cache
(this will re-download the files you just deleted, but it will be the correct files this time)

Can you post your log.txt from the appdata folder mentioned above?
    Thanks

I received the tech support data, so I'll post here for anyone else that is experiencing this type of problem.

This is indeed due to a bad install of the game through Steam. For some reason Steam isn't properly updating all of the files, which can cause a variety of different problems depending on which files failed to update. In this particular case, the code that creates the main menu is corrupted. I've seen crashes on startup, black screens, the main menu not displaying. It's also possible for the errors to not appear until you are in the game. This is quite frustrating for everyone involved, so we're trying to get it resolved as fast as possible.

If you are having anything like what I described, please run that TechSupport tool (in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2) and send the zip file it generates to max@unknownworlds.com. This file contains the logs from Steam about how it updated Natural Selection 2 which should help Valve understand the problem better.

The re-installed seemed to fix what ever the issue was. I have sent the new file to max so he can compare the two if needed. Thank you for all the help and keep up the great work!
