    Disable atmospherics in the options.

But what if i don't want to? What if I actually like the atmospheric effects? Or is it just there for turning it off? No seriously, the haze of the flashlights is to strong (and unrealistic?), it even blinds in half dark rooms and still disturbs in fully lighted rooms. So instead of getting more vision the more flashlights you use, you get more blinded.

The only way to change the flashlight is in the game code. If it's changed, your client will fail consistency checks.

Well then it is up to the devs. I guess they didn't hear this complain the first time, or did they?

There is a mod in the workshop that tones down the atmospherics of the flashlight so you can keep them on in general. It is called 'FlashLite'.

    <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse?searchtext=flashlight&searchtexthidden=&childpublishedfileid=0&section=items&appid=4920&browsesort=trend" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse?...rowsesort=trend</a>

This seems to pass the consistency checks when joining servers, as far as I've seen.

it does (technically) pass consistency checks but it will just get turned off as you join as per the mod framework. it requires the server to be running the mod, then all clients will see the effect. but yes, it does do exactly what you want. Any server ops want to install this?

People told them like 100 times to tune down atmospherics on flashlights, so I guess they want you to turn off atmospherics.

I am really wondering what makes people think they can just mod the game in whatever way they want and still play multiplayer on a regular server...
