ADMINS OR KICK/BAN COMMAND

THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME. ADMINS ARE RARELY PRESENT ON MOST SERVERS AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY TO BAN OR KICK TROLLS.

That is obvious. Unless you play on a server owned by a big clan then you won't have admins. I just played 3 games where a troll (2 actually, just different times), recycled or dropped nothing as a commander (marines) and just talked ######. They were not new.

For the love of Christ, make a mod or build something into the game (would be nice, unless you want to release something and say "###### it, let it do what it does, I'm moving on") that allows us to ban and kick people if they are doing such things. Expecting admins to be on every server is stupid.

I've been playing this since the alpha and I can't play a single round of this game on a not-so-known server without leaving half-way through because of trolls.

I'd prefer if servers would just recruit more admins personally.

If they can be on 24/7 then yea. otherwise, add a kick option at least.

I can't offer a real solution, but these things can help with the problem:

    1) Vote to eject a commander. Doesn't help if the recycle, does help if they're just doing nothing.

    2) Ask the admins of the server to add an !admin command. May require some coding. The idea is normally that an IRC bot monitors the chat log of the server (can be done remotely via JSON). When it spots a player saying "!admin there is a jerk who needs kicking!", then the bot on IRC notifies the admins of the server via PM that their attention is required, with the reason specified.

    3) Play more on well-admin'd servers. I've yet to see one single troll commander, even when randomly server-hopping.

    4) Get your own server ;) Now that I play mostly on a server that I help run, I have admin access, and can deal with trolls when I'm playing.

You're close to saying make your own server. Or go to a very populated server (good luck joining). Neither of these are valid options for a game. It's either up to the admins or the devs. I assume a lack of response from both.

The "make your own server" bit certainly isn't possible for everybody. But option 1 helps with troll commanders, and option 3 should help. Even not following option 3, just joining random servers, I've yet to experience a troll commander. Then again, I went through devnull's list of servers, picked out all the notable ones (that I remembered from back in the day as an NS1 player), and added them to my Steam favourites list. When I wanted to play NS2, I just fired up the Steam server browser, checked if any of the servers had empty slots, and joined if they did. I also tended to join servers that friends were playing on.

These days, I mostly just play on Lunixmonster, delving into option 4.
