Core 2 Quad 2.33 GHz

Hi all,

I know the 'minimum' requirements are something like 2.6 or 3 GHz, but I'm wondering if a Q8200 Core 2 Quad 2.33 GHz processor would be able to run NS2 decently (~30FPS), and if NS2 is optimised for multiple cores. If not, might it run overclocked?

Other specs:
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 4800 Series
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Thanks for any help in advance! Really enjoyed playing NS1 back then, so hopefully this will be good too :)

Good for a base view, CPU over GPU currently seems to make the biggest diff.

2.33 seems too low for me. In BIG fights (and 4x4 in 1 room already counts as big :> ) late game with Cysts all around the map you will go down to 20fps (my prediction) on low settings.
You will require to play on low resolution as well... You can try overclocking your CPu, don't know how good it OCs and what fps boost you will get from that.
Graphics card is lower than minimum req's (5700), although they are fairly 'the same' hardware vise (hz, memory), but differ in the technologies (dx11 support, etc).
Give it a go and see yourself..? :>
And yes, it is multithreaded.

On 3.6ghz 5770 i drop to 30¬ late game big fights in some rooms. :(

I went ahead and bought it anyway, I can play it ok at 1920x1080 but with most graphics settings turned off.
Definitely playable, although it lags somwhat during large fights. Bigger concern seems to be lack of servers in the SEA region, so I'm usually stuck with ~300 ping servers from Australia/US West..

The recommended CPU for this game is a dual core.

Yup there are, rare to see more than 1 full server at any time though..
