Can we get an ETA on when loading optimization is going to occur?

Just curious. Sick of spending 2+ minutes sitting on pre caching. Currently sitting on a pre cache screen after the game bugged out and messed up all my shaders, and have now been on precaching for over 10 minutes.

This is a bit crazy, particularly since my computer can easily handle the game.

GFX card: Radeon 6870 1GB
CPU: AMD quad core @ 3.1 Ghz
8 GB RAM

I suspect there is something seriously wrong with your machine or setup. Are you running on a slow hard drive that is fragmented to hell?

My works PC will get into a game from steam screen -> first server seen in under 3 mins. That machine is a 3ghz dual core intel with 4gb ram and a 3850. (xp x86)

My home pc which is an unlocked AMD phenom 2 quad core at 3.2ghz with a 6850 (but has an SSD) and 4gb RAM is easily under 1 min from steam screen to gaming. (W7 x64)

I have never timed my laptop but it sits inbetween the two (quad core OC llano and 7670 crossfire with 6gb and 7.2k hdd)

No, there is nothing 'seriously wrong' with my machine or set up. My machine is defragmented frequently (Though it almost never needs it), the hard drive is perfectly fine. This is the only game that I see any issues loading. The anomaly of the 10 minute loading screen was new, a fresh restart fixed it.

That said, the loading screens for this game are still obscenely long comparatively to any other game I've played.

I doubt something is seriously wrong with his machine. I'm under min spec on just about everything and maps load in about 30 seconds for me and I'm usually the first or 2nd person in the server after a map change..

I upgraded to a fast SSD and now the maps load really quick. I'm always among the first on the server. I have not timed it but I would guess less than 30s.

"and have now been on precaching for over 10 minutes."

Then there is something wrong. It is not normal to sit for 10 mins on precaching. Other people with much lower specs have no issues therefore it must be his machine. I have 3 installations - one on a work XP machine that is riddled with junk, test software, hasn't been reinstalled in years, takes 2 mins to log into a local profile etc. That doesn't take 10 mins to get into a game. My laptop is an almost fresh install of windows however I simply COPIED the files (and steam folder) from my desktop - I didn't bother to "install" the game and that works. My desktop is kept clean and up to date on drivers. I have never had an issue at all on any of the machines (except when the steam servers were down the other week, the master server list wouldn't update)

The only common denominator is that I have ATI/AMD GFX on all 3 machines. I don't use beta drivers.
