The gorges can do other stuff then be a mobile medic to skulks and onos! I'm still surprised what you can get away with as gorge sometimes, you can make a huge dent to marine economy if you do it right. Marines def need to take them more seriously sometimes. But gorge talk aside it was a fun game to those who played on both teams. It was very close until the last 60 seconds when we took repair then straight to shipping on ns2_tram. Very hard fought on both teams.

The difference between a spectacular gorge and an ok gorge is much smaller than the difference between a spectacular fade and an ok fade.

PARTY TIME!
Structures still suck though. Increasingly meaningless as game time goes on.

arms lab is more meaningful, phase gates more, wat
Often I hope to get reinforcements at this point, but more often than not am I left to my self and the marines kill me after taking most of their buildings down while my fellow alien mates are too busy gaining back their orientation in the sieged Hive area to actually start a push on the marines before they get their buildings back up.
But I remain with the satisfaction that I just made them waste a lot of res.
but... but.... but they are sooooo cuuuute. One does not simply kill such a beauty
I'm glad some one else feels this way because I certainly do. I don't apologize but I def feel guilty. it's even sadder when the gorge knows he's dead and just gives up and sits still.
oh my god:(
Woah, Gorges can drop marine structures!? HAX!

Old Yellegorgey :-(
I heard the new gorge 3rd hive ability makes the gorge sit and the eyes evolve larger and it makes puppy sounds.
That's mighty dangerous.

It was tram, I think, and we were stuck at two hives. Marines controller the rest of the map, all three other hive locations, and they were slowly whittling us down. Since we hadn't been able to get up any momentum, and even co-ordinated attacks on marine locations had failed, it seemed like defeat was inevitable. They even had put an exo or two into play, and we didn't have any onii.
So, we had one gorge in our hive closest to the original marine start, and he seemed to not be doing all that much. He was just kind of hanging out around the hive, seemed to be keeping up a roadblock, but the marines weren't really pushing it, so my glances at the minimap seemed to indicate that he was being kind of useless.
And then the power went down in marine start.
It turned out that in addition to maintaining his roadblock at the entrance connecting our hive to marine start, he had also been popping into marine start to do hit-and-run bilebomb attacks, and the marine comm hadn't noticed (it's not necessarily obvious until the sirens start blazing when the thing is almost dead). So the marines hadn't been repairing the thing, or taking out the gorge. All their attention was faced on holding back our attacks on their other two bases.
Well, the gorge noticed the marines were distracted during one of our assaults on one of their other bases, and decided to stick it out a bit longer and take the thing all the way down through the siren phase. And he did. And nobody on EITHER team saw it coming.
As soon as we realized power was down in marine start, what few of us were alive rushed the place, took out the comm, and then started trying to disassemble the place. It was a pitched battle, but we were respawning way closer to there than the marines were, and we kept the pressure up just long enough for our comm to get a few whips up in their base to supplement the skulks, and that did it.
All the marine upgrades were there. Most (or all?) of their IPs (at that point). We had gone from losing to suddenly having dealt a huge blow and gained the momentum. After that, the writing was on the wall; marines with no upgrades couldn't push back against three-hive aliens, and the momentum gave us the breathing space to get some higher life-forms out, and we took the day.
And all this because one gorge, all by himself, managed to surprise every player on the server.

I don't really like how bile bomb makes gorges go from a sometimes-useful roadblocker into an unmatched siege weapon of destruction but then the 2nd hive abilities are pretty gamechanging for most lifeforms so I suppose I shouldn't complain. Really, the biggest annoyance is how rarely people will go gorge when they're needed most; I'd love to have hypermutation back so that I could shift role without losing a big stack of res.
Well... I am also one of the first to go gorge if I notice it is needed. I love sneaking into bases and taking them before a marine even responds. There goes 200 res for them...
Agreed that Bile Bombs do too much for what they are worth. Their damage on exos I think is fine but the AoE radius is enormous for a near spammable, high damage armor ability. An ability like that should come from a higher evolved lifeform, it's just too efficient.
