Still planned?
I remember ppl voting on what the babbler would look like, however, there has not been any mention of the babbler. Is this still planned? Or did we just quit on this one?
I hope so. Babblers could work as a defensive mid-game counter to especially Shotguns (plenty of damage against a single target won't do you much good if there are a lot of targets). Hopefully upgradable with wings to give jetpackers a hard time. They should be easiliy counterable with the Flamethrower. Not much skill involved perhaps, but requires teching and strategy. Gives a cornered Alien team breathing room.
Oh, and while I'm already babbling... :) Why not make Alien players in the spawn queue able to take control of a Babbler. You crawl out of the Crag and see the world from the floor level with silly high FOV. If there are no enemies around you can at least run around and spam taunt. When you spawn as a Skulk, the control of the Babbler is returned to the AI that either attacks the nearest enemy or sends it back to the Crag.
Oh, and if the Khamm can select and have direct control over the Babblers, it should give the Khamm more stuff to do.

Any chance I could get my hands on the modeling sheets? I'm a student Graphical Design and we recently got into modeling, which is what I want to try and focus on.
Would be nice to be able to try my hand on an actual model, see how far I get while I learn Maya and then compare my results to what your modeler came up with to see where I could improve.

NS1 Babblers was a Gorge ability that spawned AI controlled placeholder Skulks creatures (like HL1 Snarks). The devs removed them early on: YouTube video of Babblers.

As opposed to being the Crag's activate-able ability? I thought that's what they always said it was going to be (and the concept art indicates that)
If it's going to be a Gorge ability (which is still cool, don't get me wrong) then what will the Crag ability be?

Unless it's been nerfed, gorge spit is a ranged weapon that does 40 damage... I don't think it needs more bite, just for hitreg to be fixed.
A well supported gorge in a roadblock (you know, sitting behind a clog wall with some hydras and maybe some crags if lucky) can do a lot of damage if he actually hits the enemy.

It spawns babblers and makes them run in the direction of anything the gorge hits with spit. They can also have a waypoint set for them by the khamm.
It would become a system that synergizes between gorge and khammander, and makes turtling up in a marine base a nightmare as you're dealing with constant streams of free AI threats the enemies send at you.
It would be pretty cool if they were a Gorge structure that worked like swarm hosts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPlvLb4jBLA

I think it would be great if Gorges could spawn them again. If it's a Hive 3 ability though they would have to be pretty powerful.
