Simple (hopefully) HUD edit request?

I just want my HUD to display "Health" and "Armor", either in the default way or just as a set of numbers. Nothing else.
It's not for game play, so I don't care if it'll actually "work" outside of my listen server.
I've almost been successful editing down the UI/LUA files to get what I need, but I'm sure there is a more simple way.
