I ll add in my voice here. NS2 is my first encounter with the NS world but, all the game issues notwithstanding (which game doesnt have issues) I d say I am very pleased with the level of dev involvement with the community (several orders of magnitude better than many supposedly "best in class" games around) and above all with the number of times I have ended up going to sleep at around 2:00 am "thanks" to NS2 in the past few weeks... and that in working days... ;-)

Any game that has me coming back for more, in my eyes, is a great game. As i play NS2 almost nightly it is one of the great ones.

It's a classic misconception that a game might be failing due to a lot of negative

    Here's the reality. . .
People that are happy with the game and are playing it will not be on the forums. . . they will be playing the game

Only when there is a problem like a crash or a bug will they step inside to get it fixed

NS:2 gets a few more posts than usually because strategy is a heavy part of the game and discussion of these strats comes up often
The skill cap is also high for the game so there will be a much larger supply of guide threads

Well most people don't play games the entire time they sit at a desk. I spend only a fraction of that time. Usually watching TV, posting on forums, talking to friends, etc. So your argument is flawed.

I will say though that posting, regardless of negative or positive, is a good sign. It shows passion. (edit: and just to add, I do love NS2. Friends get sick of hearing me talk about it.)

ME3 had this after they released that terrible ending. Forums went on fire. Then after the bleh extended cut people wrote bioware off and stopped posting.

Mass Effect 3 retains a solid multiplayer forum community in which the devs have been HIGHLY responsive. Frequent content and weekly balance changes clearly influenced by the community. It is impressive.
