People's mics too low

Sometimes people's mics just randomly change volume to a low level and then I can barely figure out what they're saying.

Example: I join a server, and people's voices are at a medium to loud percent. Then, as time goes on during the match, at some point their volumes change to a low percent.

I've only first come across this happening today.

I normally play with the natural selection 2 game volume sliders looking like this:

Sound: 100%
Music: 100%
Voice: 100%

I've tried changing it to this:

Sound 25%
Music 25%
Voice 100%

But it had no effect on my "situation", as the sound slider brought voice volume lower along with game sound.

Do you use onboard-sound, or a dedicated soundcard?

Post some specs.

Sort of relevent, 100% voice is still too low for half of the people I hear, can I change it in a config to get it over 100% (1.0)?

Have you checked your voicecomm settings in Steam itself?

It was at half, just knocked it up, didn't think the two were related.

EDIT: It's maxed now but no change. Some people are fine I should add, but many are just so soft, probably their issue but I need to compensate if they won't fix it.

I found out finally that it was my USB headset causing the problem by switching over to regular PC speakers and people's mics actually sound normal now. Also, the Sound and Voice sliders actually differentiate themselves now too.

Sad that no one else has had this problem. Oh well.
