OBS beats pants off of Xsplit

I had tried streaming before with xsplit but it just killed my computer even scaled way down. However I have found this great FREE program OBS it lets me stream at 720 with absolutely no performance hit in game and just works great. It dosn't have all the high end features of the xsplit platform but it most importunately does have a delay feature. This is a no brainier for anyone looking to cast NS2 games on twitch.tv. http://obsproject.com/ Also example encode I did http://www.twitch.tv/munchysnacks/b/346971288 The alien finish on the last match in that recording is just great btw.

I use this as well. It's better than XSplit for everything but it's UI. I've been able to get much clearer streams from it at 100x better performance than XSplit... and it only takes a second to open instead of that silly splash screen -.-

I'm still having difficulties with obs doing various things but that's to be expected from a program in alpha but so far its pretty impressive

Ha yea you where causing some rage but I thought you where just really good myself after awhile. I myself didn't try FFsplit but Ill give it a shot and post an update good find.
Just downloaded it and dont see the direct ns2 pull that OBS has seems to just cap the screen. Which works but lets you see everything some stuff you might not want to show. Aslo dosn't seem to work with my mic as well. I would have to have my mic turned on in the windows setup for it to work which would be well echoooooooo.

I am just shocked by the performance it blows xsplit out of the water in that regards. I have an older AMD Phenom II X4 955 and it just can't do xsplit but OSB just runs flawless. The performance difference is just shocking and at least this way I can still stream.

I don't really notice any significant FPS drop compares to xsplit that has extreme difficulty running games in my normal settings.

QUOTE

What I learned:
    1) OBS has overall higher performance than Xsplit.
    2) Turning Aero off isn't as great as people think, and in fact OBS has significantly increased performance when using screen regions if Aero is on.
    3) OBS's built-in Window Capture is more efficient than Dxtory.
NOTE: OBS can function EXACTLY like Dxtory (only showing your game window) if you play in a window, use "Window Capture", and have Aero enabled.

Yea but OBS now has a directx capture option for NS2 so you don't have to use screen regions its great.

If anybody needs more help with OBS drop by in the Quakenet channel #obsproject, there are many people who know their ######, or add me on steam. :)
Game Capture for Fullscreen windowed NS2 will come probably AFTER the next major release which is focused on the new audio engine and audio for capture cards.
