Please restore sound when Steam Overlay is open

Upon release, all game sound was muted when you had the Steam overlay open, in order for people to hear the tutorial videos, which used the Steam overlay(?).
Anyway, as of today's patch this is no longer the case - so can we please have sound restored while the overlay is open? I often need to open the overlay to receive messages from people, or invite others into the game, and missing out on voice comms (as well as general game sounds) really doesn't help at all.
Please can we have sound back now? :(

I think I asked about it when the game was released and this change was suddenly made, and it was indicated that it was due to the tutorial videos and seemed to be a temporary solution - but now that's solved, it'd be really great if we could have the sound back while the Steam overlay is open. It's pretty disrupting..
