Game will not allow "cysting" from Flight Contorl to Computer lab. Bugged?

I have played multiple games now where the alien commander cannot drop cysts from Flight Control to Computer Lab on map "Summit". You can drop cysts all the way up to the border between the rooms but it will not let you place one down in conputer lab. It says that you are not placing a cycst near another but that is totally not true. However, there is no problem at all cysting the same corridor from Computer Lab into Flight Control.

What is the problem here? Is it on purpose for balance? If it is, ok I guess, though I am not seeing what the big deal is. I am more inclined to think its bugged. I know it happens all the time. Multiple commanders confirmed they can't do it either.

There's another point in Docking trying to cyst from Courtyard into Locker Rooms and vice versa along the walkway in the north west. Maybe some props were moved about and stuffed up the pathing?

This bug has happened a few times in the past. It's not really reliably reproducible.

Next time this happens try jumping out of the hive and back in again, I think I remember that this fixed it sometimes.

I tried that. It wasn't even one game, I played like 3 and it was doing it.

The most notable case of this I've seen is on Mineshaft, from breakroom into double res. The trick is to place the cyst way way closer to the last cyst you placed, then try placing another one further out, repeat in small steps til you get to where you needed to go. Sort of related, on mineshaft I'm sick of placing a cyst on the ground near the bottom double res and it appear on the walkway above -.-'

Keep in mind that the cyst placing algorithm does not check the range to the nearest cyst in a direct line. It uses the same path-finding algorithm that MACs, ARCs and Drifters use. This is to prevent you from cysting through walls. So just remember to measure the distance between cysts with line of sight instead of a direct line.

This said, there were several bugs in the past, that were exactly like you describe. The mapper has to be informed to fix this.

Yes, I am aware of that as well. Placing anywhere in the circle is not going to work. Test it out and tell me if I am wrong. I absolutely cannot place a cyst anywhere in the corridor from Fligh Control to Computer Lab, no matter what (yet reverse the direction and it works fine). I hope UWE sees this thread and can address it.

I don't know if cysting got worse, but its definitely not better since the patch.

I just khamm'd a game on summit, I didn't have any troubles going from flight to comp lab. Guess it's choosy.

The bad comm that got ejected before I got in the hive also had no problem cysting through there. He did it right away to drop 3 whips in computer lab when the marines started in sub, but that's not really relevant to this topic, just wanted to share that moment of brilliance. :p
