LANing this game?

We are 6 people in a LAN party wanting to play this game as a team against other random opponents around our novice:ish level.
Is there a way to enter a sort of matchmaking event where we can enter as a team?

Is there not any other way to achieve this?

You could try gathers or make a clan and compete with other clans. But that might not really be players at your level.
You could make a thread to arrange matchmaking like those you request. Let players make teams and post in that thread, then use ns2stats or something to give the teams some sort of average score. Using that you could match-make almost as bad as an automatic matchmaker.

Of course you can do this, nevermind the first reply, he clearly don't know what he is talking about.
You can go to ns2hubs PCW finder. (web based IRC client connection to #ns2.search @ quakenet.org)
Or you can try using the shoutbox on www.ensl.org (Only current league of NS2, with teams from all over the world)
It might be hard for you to find novice teams to play against, but you could try searching for lower skilled teams to start off with.

what you're looking for is usually called a pick up game or pug for short. The ENSL, I believe, is a good place to start.

Pretty much what swalk said.

The way I do my LAN parties for NS2 is I simply create a server and put a password on it. And, who ever in my LAN party joins it simply finds the server and adds the password. Since, its everyone using the same network the connection is great and we never have no problems.
