a small question

<div class="IPBDescription">weapon's stats confused me</div>'Primary Fire: Assault Rifle Function: Inflicts damage on targeted player or structure at infinite range.
Damage: 10/11/12/13
Damage Type: Normal
Range: 250'

That's from the official wiki website. It said 'Inflicts damage on targeted player or structure at infinite range' ,and'range:250' right after that.
What does that mean...

Take range out and you're all good.

Just call it hitscan and there should be no issue at all.

    "at infinite <b>range</b>"
Range is key, and true, there is no limit (I've seen) stopping bullets hitting over distance.

Rifle range is not infinite, the wiki is correct.

Range is infact 250, but is irrelevant for the most part because stuff that far most likely won't draw/render anyway. To give you a sense of scale, the span of crevice in ns2_summit is about 50-60.

In the source code, range is 250.

In-game, its infinite because you will never shoot 250.

In other words, you will never shoot max coded range.

In big areas, like Landing Pad on docking, I get pop in of Models (not props or the map, crates, rails etc still show) ... is this part of NS2 or is my Gfx just failing me?

Thats just the draw distance you can fire through it and hit things but they wont be on your screen or theirs, a good example of this is a lerk on the back wall of crevice can hit buildings/players from there over to the walk way where the rt and entrances

While firing at a target, it adds a "stack" every 0.4 seconds which increases the flamethrowers damage and burn damage. Each stack adds 5 to the flamethrower damage, and 2 damage per second to burn damage. The stack rate is independent of the firing rate. In other words, you can increase your damage by tracking your target in-between damage bursts.

How does that 'stack' work? If I ignite an enemy and let him go,he will still take damage for a while, does that adds stacks?
I'm trying to translate the wiki into Chinese but so far it's not good. Is the wiki correct? Or at least most of the information is correct?

Stacks are added while you keep the flame on.

Yeah to sum this up, the rifle has indeed a maximum range of 250 (weapons\Marine\Rifle.lua:23: local kRange = 250). And most areas in the game, even huge areas like Docking's Landing pad, Summit's Crevice and Mineshaft's Cave have ranges up to 50 meters. Some even beyond that which causes the pop-in and out of dynamic models (players/structures). But in any case, you will never need to hit beyond ~40-50 meters in this game. You might even go as far as saying, the 250 meter range is overcompensating for something :P
