With Christmas and all the Steam sales, we now have a lot of scrubs in the NS community. And the natural urge for these scrubs is to assume this game is Call of Duty in space with aliens. Guess what happens when they started playing as if they were playing team deaeth match? The worst, blow-out, stupid, no fun games I have ever seen in online gaming.
I have been trying to get a few decent games going lately with people on my steam friend list. I had one friend playing last night. We played 9 games and the scrubs stacked marines over 9000 times. Most of the time the marines could not even hold an RT for more than a few seconds. Now I am not an elitest jerk, but I know what the marines need to do to win. I have won as marine many times. Overall I'd say the marines win almost half the time. But when I tried to look through the eyes of a scrub and see the way they played marines, I would have gladly helped them to uninstall the game. Word of mouth is very important for a game like this. I can't build a case to say that this is a game for Call of Duty retards.
I think the scrubs need to learn to play. They need to learn to stick together so they do not get killed in 0.5 seconds. Time and time again all I saw was some random retard running out of spawn all by himself acting all Chuck Norris and sh!t only to get owned over and over by skulks. Now don't start telling me how the marines need to aim better, stay together, yada yada yada because these scrubs aren't doing it. But they do have plenty of time to write up mini essays to whinge on the UWE forum.
Here are a few simple suggestions that are easy to implement. Force the scrubs to watch the tutorials. No watch? No play! Make the rookie probation period thrice as long. Make the scrubs unable to join white servers until their probation is over. There are many easy ways to adresss this. And if it makes all the scrubs cry then awesome. But FIX THIS problem. This game is getting uninstalled left and right because these scrubs because they are running back to Modern Warfare 3. They don't deserve an awesome game like NS2 anyway. It's bad timing that people who know how to play NS2 couldn't have any decent games during the xmas period.
