Obviously, they must get desperate to start naming things. That said, I wouldn't ever think the word "onus" should follow "carapace" unless it was a play on words for the Onos in NS2. That armor is a boney obligation? A shielded responsibility? I don't get it.

There's an item in WoW which dropped in old Naxx. It is named the "<a href="http://www.wowhead.com/item=23017/veil-of-eclipse" target="_blank">Veil of Eclipse</a>". It was named after our guild, which was named (loosely) after KFS' two NS1 maps.

This, however, is simply a case of DIII using the same style of Prefix/Suffix naming of additions to items. Carapace is a name for a chest piece, Onus is a Suffix that (via a quick googling) looks like it means it adds +dex (which makes no sense, so possibly the suffix is no longer tied to what stats it gives). Randomly generated items.

VE wasn't named loosely after KFS' maps. VE was just straight up named after the maps!

I still cannot believe I wasted 65 dollars on D3. They ruined Diablo 3 enough to make me hate anything related to it. That damned RMAH ruined everything. At least finding items was fun the first few runs.
