Seriously how hard is it to google:

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ns2+server ---> http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/wiki/inde...er#Requirements

QUOTE

Currently, the NS2 Server software is not fully optimized to make use of multiple cores on your system. At best, it uses 2 threads, of which 1 will handle the main processing.
    As such, NS2 Server providers commonly run their servers on overclocked consumer-grade systems as opposed to multi-core server-grade systems. e.g. NS2 Servers which handle 24 players are typically clocked at 4.4GHz on an Intel i7 core.

    I am running a 16Player server on a I5 3350 standard 3.1 Ghz clock. 8GB memory and a SSD to increase loading times.
    Current internet connection is 120/10. with those 1.2 mb/sec upload I can provide more then enough bandwitch for these players.

    With 20 players this is the bandwith:
    DL Rate = 83 KB/s
    UL Rate = 163 KB/s

    Meaming each player uses about 4KB/s dl and 8KB/s upload. I suggest your minimum upload is 400-500kb/sec because you do have spikes. Also some "home" providers tend to limit connection/minuit which could also cause lag spikes. My server runs on a home connection but it works fine.

    As for memory usage: around 1.5GB. So I suggest you get atleast 2GB, preferably 4.

    When it comes to max player. My server can run 20 players, but not at 100% performance. Normal tickrate for ns is 30, which means good performance. When I run 20 player it drops to 25 on long games. 18 is my max without performance los.

    24p server requires 4.4ghz CPU, it's no easy task to overlock a retail CPU to 4.4ghz.
