I Lag Out And Entire Internet Connection Dies

Whenever I launch NS into a game, It works perfectly for approximately 20 seconds, and then I lag out and get an error message in the upper-right hand corner saying my connection has been severed. This error seems to infect my entire computer, for example : my AIM dies, Mirc connection dies, and any other program that is internet related seems to lose connection as well. This is ONLY when I play NS, I've never even played HL before, I got HL for NS.
