I was curious about what kind of mouse sensitivity you competitive players use in Natural Selection 2. What kind of distance does your mouse travel to do a 360 degree turn in game?
NS is a wierd game for sensitivity because in tracking games (of which marines is the ultimate because theres no recoil) pro players have typically preferred very low sensitivity to allow for more accuracy (basically as low as possible to still allow for a 180 in a single motion).
HOWEVER, in ns2 most people need a higher sensitivity for aliens because you have to be able to track at melee range, which is alot harder with super low sensitivity.
So the answer to your question I think is typically players use a bit higher sensitivity in ns2 then in other fps, and some players even use different sensitivities for different sides.
So in conclusion I believe there is no generally agreed upon best sensitivity for NS2.

I'm used to have lower sensitivity, this makes tracking targets with the marines toys also easier and more consistent *cough mouselag*. I move my mouse with my arm not with my wrist. The main reason is to counter RSI, which is mainly caused by micro movements in your hands. And I find it is more accurate when you use at least ~30cm of movement range for a 360 and ~15cm for a 180
Fana and Tane dont use mouse sensitivity, they have a direct connection via usb from their brains.
So basically its like the matrix and they are the chosen ones.
edit: to not be so much off topic everywhere i post, i use mid sense, setsensitivity 2.3 @ 1150dpi, windows slider 6, no acceleration, raw input. guess its around ~15cm for a 360. In the end, it all comes down to preference and getting used to it over time => practice...

Best sensitivity is individual specific. What I do is gauge how well I'm tracking in-game. If I'm undershooting/biting (i.e. my crosshair is consistently falling behind the target I'm aiming at), then I turn my sensitivity up. If I'm overshooting/biting (i.e. my crosshair is consistently leading the target I'm aiming at), then I turn my sensitivity down.
The biggest issue is that I find I need a higher sensitivity for aliens (because of the aforementioned reason) than I do marines, but can't set separate sensitivities for each side.
lower sensitivity is clearly more precise for range while higher is better for melee range. problem being with NS you have to sacrifice one for the other or just try and get used to what's in the middle.
Gota Lowsense since im playing NS2 - I can do an 180° Turn with my wrist - soon as I rotate the more I have to use arm or lift off. but it gives me a much more accurate feeling
okay, if we are tec nerding and setup peeping, then the right way:
what mouse on which surface on monitor at which resolution vsync on/off with what crosshairs and what gfx settings ingame and what hardware
right now: roccat kone razer goliathus dell u3011 fpw 1024x768 vsync off all white crosshairs mod everything off, but antialiasing and texture streaming cpu: intel 3770k @5ghz, ram: 32gb @ 2400, graca: evga sc gtx 660 ti
going to get my old CRT monitor from my parents attic :) and my razer abyssus. then i can start rocking the ###### out of you again :)

Or if you have a good mouse you can do on-the-fly DPI/sensitivity when you switch to Aliens. Still too much trouble to get right though. :/

Mine is not too low or too high. I have a sensitivity that i've been using to any fps games i've played except for bfbc2 where i played it in low sensitivity.
I have my sensitivity where I feel comfortable with it.

This. Very easy to do actually, at least with my mouse.. (logitech g500).

Personally i play at 4 sens/800dpi. Ive played as high as 7 sens and 2k dpi, but that requires me to be less lazy, and I like being lazy.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
those numbers are quite meaningless.
saying how many inches/cm does it take for you to do a 360 in-game is how this works.
Dont see how thats worthless, outside of windows sens and/or using accel its a pretty easy comparison. Most people use default windows sens so..... yea

Damn, I always thought I was somewhat of a low sensitivity gamer, but I do a 360 turn in 2.25 inch. I almost got a heart attack when I read about competitive Quake 3 players using about 8 - 12 inch per 360 turn. Man, that's the size of my friggin' mouse pad. ;)
But getting accustomed to a lower sensitivity might help me improve tracking skulks and such.
I used to play with inverted mouse years ago. So if I can learn to get rid of that, I should be able to learn to play with a lower sensitivity. ;)

But since you asked so nicely its about 7~8cm/360
raw input means that your windows slider doesnt affect the ingame sensitivity afaik
Ahem. Sir. What aftermarket cooler are you using?
PS: Pics or it didnt happen
should still never be higher than 6 regardless
