<div class="IPBDescription">bug</div>Hi,
In NS2 i am constantly getting a bug where a blue tiled square is showing on players or their names.
Sometimes it is an advantage becuase it shows me a player before they come around a corner, but i dont use any mods and i hate the idea of cheating.
It doesnt last long because it normally crashes the game after a few minutes but i cant send the debug report because the contents of the debug report never load.
As a game dev myself i believe this to be an opengl blending error on a texture with alpha values.
Anyways i wanted to know if it is just me or a common bug with a fix?

EDIT: Also, this needs to be phased to tech support
Are you running 32 bit? I had a very similar experience through the first few weeks or release and sometimes back in beta until I reformatted.
Happens regardless of texture streaming settings. Usually it sneaks in over the course of a few matches and affects the background UI of the commander interface (still playable). In the next map will it then spread out to player name plates and the upgrade progress indicator on buildings. If the game didn't crash by then, it will expand to replace the infestation texture and ultimately it will place two huge rotating checkerboards on your screen when you use an Exo that make it impossible to see anything at all with it. And then the game really should crash to end it's suffering.
GeForce GTX460 with 1 GB VRAM here.
And yes, I have a 32 bit OS as well. There are two ways to fix the problem: either upgrade to 64 bit (which is not an option I'd pull just for a single game making trouble at the moment) or the game becoming compatible with DX10+, since that works around a video memory problem that is present in DX9 and lower.

Should be well documented by now, given that it seems to have been around for months.
Would be helpful to have that screenshot with r_stats enabled , as I mentioned in there.
