Alt-F4 freezes computer, forces hard restart, occurs ~20-30% of the time

Note: This issue was occurring before 238, and has occurred after it too.
When I use alt-f4 to exit out of the game, roughly a quarter of the time my entire PC will freeze, forcing me to use the restart button on the case. So far, I've only ever experienced this when exiting from the game's main menu or server browser -- never when I alt-f4 when in-game or in the ready room. The freeze happens after the game has closed, typically within about 4-5 seconds. In the most recent occurrence, my mouse cursor was mobile for this period, but nothing else was responsive. Then the mouse cursor froze and I had to reboot.

This only occurs with NS2, and so far I haven't been able to identify any other factors that may have influenced why it only happens in some cases, and not others.
