Bilebomb exploit in docking

You can bilebomb Locker Rooms from above as a Gorge if you climb on the pipes as a Skulk and mutate there. It's of course incredibly difficult for Marines to get a Gorge that goes up there without JPs.

Here's a pic of the spot:

You've been able to do that for a long time. Last time I tried it, I didn't last very long. Marines can kill the gorge but it usually takes at least two marines shooting from both sides.

I wouldn't say this is an exploit, more like a tactic.

I agree. Tactic, not exploit. Gorges can get all sorts of places by evolving there or by clog-climbing and the only way to prevent it is to take away all such hiding places. Then you have a boring map. :)

yup, it's something i've been doing for a long time - although as others have said, you die very quickly, and it's actually quite hard at times to get the bile to ground level to do any damage

It's not really an exploit. There's lots of sneaky places to bomb stuff as a gorge, and tactics like that are encouraged. As long as marines can do something to fight it and it's not "breaking" the game/engine in some way then it's not a "true" exploit.

Yeah naming it an exploit may be a bit excessive in retrospect, but I think this spot is still pretty problematic. In my case we weren't able to get that Gorge and it cost us the game since we were being attacked at the same time (and the Marine team wasn't bad).
If it's known and if UWE thinks it's okay then I have no problem with that.

If you thought this was an exploit, you would ragequit if I gorged on you in ns2_tram.

I see nothing wrong with inventive and unexpected use of a gorge combined with teamwork being effective. In a public server it's only natural for some people to get caught off guard by a tactic like that, but it's not like gorges are invincible up there. It only takes 1 person with average aim and awareness to kill the gorge, or at least force it to run back and forth to avoid getting hit and expend all its energy healing itself or frantically placing clogs to block the bullets. Whilst it occupies the marine, leaving less to defend against skulks, it also occupies the gorge too - seems fair, it's not like any other situations you can just ignore a bilebombing gorge.

For a while I tried out all kinds of weird spots like that just to test out their validity. And believe me, the pipes above Locker Rooms aren't all that good. They're helpful to build or heal a hive from a place that allows you to retreat into cover. And can be a minor nuisance to heal hydras from up there, but that's about it. Usually it's more trouble than it's worth. In your average game, attempting to bile up there into an already established marine base is practically suicide.

I like to try and keep as many sneaky spots available in the map without them being too ridiculous.
    Don't forget the holes :)
