How do i increase the draw distance?

Hey guys, Im shooting some film in a large outdoor environment in the cinematic editor, but the draw distance is a little short, so that distant buildings and props suddenly pop into view as the camera gets near enough, and it looks a little silly.

I saw the editor has an option to increase the distance, but I dont think it is working. Is there a trick to make it work?

Cheers

AFAIK there's a hard limit to the draw distance in NS2.

    Off topic:
    Props on the Immortal avatar.

Aw okay, maybe I have to make a set extension in after effects :o

Thanks and by the way, Ive seen the psychosis inducing animation your avatar is from, it is delicious.

Incidentally guys, that draw distance cap is for players, props and other models. World geometry renders well beyond that distance.

Hopefully this is extended in the content patch, not being able to see skulks in lava falls until you're close enough is silly. Few builds ago on Docking, you couldn't even see if the hive was dropped or not in Departures.

There is also another way to get a larger draw distance in the game, with JimWest's extra entities mod.

I'm not sure whether it works in the Cinematic Editor itself though...

Yup, I've used JimWest's map_settings entity to extend draw distance before. Works in game though I doubt it makes a bit of difference in the Cinematic Editor.

Thanks for all the fast replies, but yeah I'm not sure how to make it run in the cinematic editor as it is launched from its own environment in the launch pad.

Maybe I need to make a mod from within the pad and run the mod from there when i start the cin. editor? What kind of files does the mod consist of by the way?

I downloaded ExtraEntities through the workshop, what should I do next?

The next step is to add a new mod in the launch pad, call it extra entities and for the folder, choose the one that you just downloaded in the workshop (or copy the files from it somewhere else if you like and and then use whatever folder name you like).

Once you've got the mod there, fire up the map editor and you should see some new entities. One of these is the draw distance. You can then try dropping in the draw distance changer and see if it does anything in the cinematic editor. I don't know much about how the cinematic editor works, maybe it won't respect the entity anyway but it might be worth a shot.
