In response to the video posted above: Adding in railgun exos in that form is really stupid. Putting someone with top level aim in a railgun exo is just going to be brutal. If nothing else, the exo needs to be changed in the following way:
1.) Both railguns shouldn't be able to fire at the same time. Put a 0.5s delay between firing on them. Enough that you can fire two fast shots, but not so much that you can one shot a fade with a single movement.
2.) Lower the damage on a single shot so that it doesn't one shot fades.
That obviously isn't the final build but instead a user mod (notice the marine walking speed). Odds are the numbers are going to change so that the Rail Exo is as useless/useful as the normal Exo. Besides, did you SEE that walking speed? Talk about speedy Gonzales there. Regular Exo wishes it could walk as fast as that.
Really? Seems about the same speed as a marine's walking speed rather than the exo's slower "plodding" rate. Could be wrong however. Haven't gotten the chance to get into exos in my recent games.
@thefonz: All I'm saying is those damage numbers might not be final and that the youtube guy had to mod it in. You'll notice the icon for the railgun in the proto is an axe and most likely a placeholder image. The models are obviously made from UWE for the release and they put it in game already. Not unless... you know something I don't? Are the values shown in the video the final values then, fonz?
Judging from the video, it will be worthless against Onos and powerful against lower lifeforms (Just from time to charge and such). Which is exactly the opposite of what Marines need. They have plenty of things for lower lifeforms, but nothing to counter an Onos except more bullets. Which would work, if Oni didn't eat bullets for breakfast with a side of grenade salad.

Is there a way to script additional damage to a specific target? (Onos in this case).
i thought the original idea was to make crags create blabbers... so i assumed it was an upgrade from that chamber..
*edit* just saw that video... looks like the railgun can do crazy damage if the exo has cover.... anyway, i think marines just need to get better at early game... it's more strategic on marines.. but hopefully the newbies will get used to it. these new features will affect balance, but you need to add features before you balance them. plus, cool stuff is cool.
It's actually going to be pretty strong against Onos given that the charge is frontloaded. Meaning that any Onos rounding the corner is going to take a ton of burst damage and feel compelled to run away immediately. God forbid the other team gets 3 railgun exos - just rounding a corner as an Onos will mean instant death.

It took 7-8 shots to kill it despite one shotting Fades. Also, there doesn't appear to be a way to 'save' charges. Additionally, having three Exos on your team at once is basically an automatic loss right then and there.

True, but when has an EXO ever been useful against an Onos anyway? I know it's subject to change, but EIGHT fully charged shots to kill an Onos? LOL! ) Yeah like that will ever happen. So yeah it's clear this is yet another marine weapon that is inferior to the Onos. (yawn)
As for one-shotting lesser classes, that's great, if you can time the hits with the weapon charge. As it stands now the Railgun EXO will be an extremely situational weapon. Given that it will likely need to be researched as well, I can't see commanders sinking money into this if they can get dual-minis. (Not to mention I get the sneak suspicion that it may even cost more p-res too.)
About the only place I can see this getting use is competitively, which is good since marines in comp play could use the extra weapon.
Railguns in that vid look awesome, but sadly I expected better performance against the Onos. Otherwise I personally wouldn't bother with the exo. Good luck one shotting a Fade in any decent amount of time while he's shadowstepping all over the place.
Hey wait a sec is that Big Mac at 1:20 incarnated in Onos?
The rail gun looks cool. I'd like to see it in action.
I think the rail gun exo will be perfect to combat Onos. Many times I see Onos appear from freaking nowhere ( even if the marine team is winning ) and usually the said Onos/ es cause such a panic and destruction among the marines. Maybe this new exo will help killing them faster.
Edit: HOLD IT!
The Gorge is Fluttershy XD
Man, how could you vaporize Flutterge like that. Don't you have a heart or a soul. XD
Considering how bad the rapid fire spray and pray Exo currently is at hitting anything, I can't help but feel that the rail gun exo will be nothing more than a glorified ARC.
An ARC which requires direct line of sight... and costs a lot...
If the video's accurate on damage, then Rail Exo will be better than Reg. Duals vs Onos. The Rail Exo in the video doesn't have weapons upgrades. I'd guess 4-6 full shots, to kill an Onos, with weapons 3, or 2 shots and support fire.
I want to see the level of mad on a fades face when he gets one shot (without cara ofc).
This is why the damage depicted in the video cannot possible be correct.
Assuming simultaneous dual charge up is possible, the maximum a single rail gun hit could ever do would be something like 40% the health of a lerk. You simply cannot have mid to high level lifeforms being killed instantly.

Exos don't benefit from weapons upgrades, only armor upgrades.

If the damage is any lower, then it will be completely and utterly worthless against the Onos. Not to mention, the basic 20 res SG can one shot a lerk. A 75 res Exo, which has loads of research and drawbacks behind it, should definitely be able to one shot a Fade at least.
Even if the Exo is as powerful as shown in that video, Jetpack + Shotgun would still be better and cheaper.

If you mean spray and pray players, then yes, the railgun won't be the right choice for them. At least it won't kick up so much dust while aiming though, so maybe they'll find it easier to shoot skulks at their feet, who knows.

That model for the rail gun is about the only thing you can be sure will be the same by the time the patch is released.
Anything else is currently changing on an almost 48 hour interval, from configurations to damage to speed to effects.
Shame these art assets leaked in their unfinished form.. :-/

Looks fun! It would probably die horribly alone. Least a level 3 regular dual exo can spray in the general direction and kill a skulk.
The walking speed looks right, in my opinion.

Can we scrub it from the forum?
.... Pointless to fight the internet, I know....
Really.
If it's still like in that video, CHANGES PLX.
halve damage and double speed?
