Idiot N00bs

Just venting.
We were playing on nancy. first two games we got owned by aliens. The third time I decided to take field commander position. We managed to successfully take 1 hive and seige another. We control 2 hives. The game was looking good.

The aliens go back to regular skulk rush tactics, our base defenses sucked (relatively green commander) so they regularly got in and ate the TF. No problem, since usually we could keep the damage to a minimum and money was good. I was just waiting for HA so we could siege the last hive.

Anyway, to make a long story a little shorter, one rush managed to slaughter all but one of us. it was a 4 on 4 game with marines holding 2 hives. The last guy was in a forward base, repairing stuff. Good, but we were screaming ourselves blue and this guy just doesn't get it that he was needed in the base and that he had to save the day.

So the 3 skulks and a lerk completely level the main base, and proceed to hunt down the last remaining marine. What was annoying was the fact that the game was definitely in our favor then one idiot blows it by not reading the messages and listening to voice chat.

And before his ignorance lost us the game, he almost lost it for us in an earlier game too, not checking for infantry portals (or lack thereof) and then proceeding to build SENTRY TURRETS. It took him a good 3 - 5 minutes before he realized no one was spawning.

Sigh... in hindsight, the marines should have built a second cc.

heheh was just gunna say, as soon as you controll a hive you must drop a CC in it and defend it, most hives are usually easier to defend than marine start

and if you had 1 guy alive and were losing the CC, you needed to start screaming like a little girl and frantically drop the new CC next to his noob **obscenity**

then hope he gets in and makes INF portals

While there are many n00bs out there, and still learning, I tend to lose temper because I got so used to good players at F.o.R. server and EC server...

I just had to keep reminding myself that there are new playeres everywhere, and I must keep my temper...

but i just couldnt' do it. It's harder to do it when you're losing. It's even worse when you feel like you're the only one doing all the work.

Sigh. I hope this n00b period will get over soon

You know, I'm getting really sick of all the newbie-bashing going on at the forums. N00bs this, n00bs that, CS n00bs suck, n00bs not reading the manual, n00bs making us lose the game... It's only 3 weeks old, people! There's going to be newbies, and lots of them. Every online game has them. If you don't like putting up with newbies, find a clan to play with or organize a private game. I get tired of newbies too, but I've learned to accept them because I play on public servers. So if you're going to play public, don't come crying to the forumers about it.

If I'm taking your post the wrong way, I'm sorry. I just had to get that off my back.

    Moral lesson: READ CHAT MESSAGES

Moral lesson #2: Build second CC ASAP. do not expect to keep your first base. Any experienced alien worth his bacterium has probably memorized the layout of every marine start area.

By the way, can living players even see messages from dead players? Cause I know for sure when everyone's dead and screaming at the living guy, he NEVER sees it.

n00bs are not big problem really.

THe problem is peopel who are ignorant...

can you believe peopel saying "manual is for wussies"??

    some n00bs learn, some doesn't.

and it's those who doesn't that pisses people off...

I wouldn't call that ignorant, I'd call that moronic. There's no excuse for being a moron.

Yeah, people who are alive can see global and team chats from dead mates, but can't hear dead voice comms. I THINK.

I'm pretty sure you can't hear dead voice comm, but you shoudl be able to see dead messages... that is soemthign I have been questioning for a long time too. I hope we can get some answer on this

This game's been out for all of 3 weeks? There aren't so much OGs in the game as n00bs as far as the eye can see (with the exception of the play testers).

How long do you think it takes to learn an HL mod? 2 months? 1 week is all that a proficient player needs, learn the maps layouts and the basics... the rest is up to the COMM or HIve mind...

but I think we should definatley cut people slack I remember my frist 4 hours of NS (in fact it was all in 1 game) I was sooooooooooo lost it took like a whole day just to get orianted
