KIll assist in stats window

I feel that often the stats of players can be a little random, a lot of times i have done 99% damage on a alien or marine and then some one comes and "steal my kill", I feel that happens way to often, and also I "steal kills" from others. I would love to see a new column in the stats window showing kill assist.
My sugestion for how that should/could work, is that if you do just the slightest of dammage on another player, when that player dies you get a kill assist point. but if the player goes back to an armory or hive (also healed by gorge or medkit drops) and get healed back to full healt, then the kill assist dont count.
And I know that it will be a lot of info in the upper right corner if all kill assist is gonna show as on row, but maby the kill assist can show up in a parantes behind the name of the player that gets the kill. Or it dont need to show at all, just get counted in the stats window.
