Mebe marines should tape their pistol and axe onto their rifles so they dont have to switch guns at all!
Hey, go back in history and they used to have pistol/rifle axes! Look at this. Wouldn't that be handy? Have a pistol and then alt fire is to swing the axe!

I still think the rifle needs a bayonet. Why smack when you can stab?

I still think the real issue is the scrollwheel going in the wrong direction.

Thanks for clarifying that Hugh, makes sense now, it still feels in game that the animation draws the weapon out (should be ready to fire in 0.0001 seconds) but then another animation pops out on top of drawing for each in game weapon model, I first thought it was a foldable axe, it pops out, mines even have a delay on placing them, I was wondering whether this was an artistic/style design (which I hate) or whether it was for in game balance reasons (which I can understand) and live with.

You broke my comment down into multiple parts and 9/10 people do this to nitpick and fish arguments out of nowhere by taking things out of context, every stupid little one liner quip you added into your first post is addressed in the non quoted parts of my OP. I really don't care about the times matching up with CS/DOD/source, this game has always had more in common game play/movement/positioning/aiming wise with rocket arenas (Quake 3 Arena, Quake Live, Unreal Tournament 99 or 03) than any source game released, which means instant weapon swap like NS 1, Memelands 2 and their play testers are equally irrelevant as no one will try to take anything seriously or PvP in it, the jist of your post is right tho, I don't care that weapon animations seem to take an extra 0.3 seconds right up until I have 1-2 skulks at half Hp in my face and I die with my last moments watching a pistol somehow pop out.

If you could please clarify my errors instead of just attacking the post with no backing up, I could actually apologize and move on. However, as it stand, I think my "stupid little one line quips" were pretty well justified and not a single line of yours was taken out of context.

Please correct me. If not, I'm just going to go with 'troll'.

I would suggest people don't lead with the pistol because of inexperience.

Certainly I have found the pistol to be still extremely effective in NS2, though it is harder to use than the rifle.

But that's as NS1 was, so I can only surmise that people avoid doing it for the same reason I do. I'm more likely to hit SOMETHING with the rifle.

It seems the topic is settled, but try not to think of it like
"Damn, if there was no switch delay I woulda whooped your skulk ass"

You had your chance to land 9-10 bullets as a skulk closes the distance. If the engagement started with a skulk at your face then the skulk is playing the game right.

    It should then be
"Damn, if only I could of landed 10 bullets"
    "That skulk got me good"

Yeah I get mad too when I exhaust my firepower, and truly believe had i had a half second sooner, i'd clutch that kill. But it's all fair game.
