More starcraft goodness
Ok I took in some of your guys comments and decided that my first model need to much tweaking so i just remodeled the whole thing from scratch. Heres the update compleate with thighs!
notes:
Poly count so far: 984 (I might just be abel to squeeze by!)
He has no hips so his **obscenity** plate is just floating as are his legs.
Shoulder lamp will be added later. (chest lights might be removed and added in skin)
Yes his arms do bend realisticly even though they look odd in the mesh.

If you look at the screenies, their **obscenity** thing is really that huge. Ill put the shoulder light on next update tomorrow. Hopefully he will be almost finished by then.
Peace out all

Power armor is based on traditional armor, and traditional armor had compartments for genetalia (called the armor's "codpiece") which were supposed to be large enough to protect the genitles without being too restrictive, although later they began making them bigger and bigger just so the guys looked like they had a lot of equipment to protect down there.
Whoever designed the marines for SC probably based their ideas off of mideval armor without asking any questions about why. They probably just put big armor plates where mideval suits had big armor plates.
Or, they might have a good reason for it. There's probably components and mechenisms housed in there, underneath a good solid layer of armor... it would have to be pretty thick padding in order to be flexible enough to walk in and still provide ample protection, you know. The enormous shoulders probably contain mechanical components, too, and if they have stuff on their backs, then putting some stuff in the front would add a nice counterweight to that, and the **obscenity** is a better place to put it than the chest, because a chest chassis that sticks out would restrict movement too much for things like holding a gun with both hands.
In fact, if we immagine that there are machines in the large **obscenity** area, it would probably be a good place to handle temperature regulation, because a lot of blood flows close to the skin there. Maybe stabilizing gyros for better balance would be housed there, close to the base of the legs.
Or even machinery to... recycle... used water supplies.
[Edit: WTF? C-R-O-T-C-H is not a bad word! It's about the only clean word we HAVE to refer to that area of the body! Why is this word on the language filter!? What's wrong with you people? I'm going to bed.]
