Wierd typing/commander bug?

When I joined a server everything was fine until suddenly I tried to type something. It would allow me to type but when I hit enter nothing showed up. Also when I try to type things into console like j1 (join marines) and j2 (join aliens) it will not do anything, however, I am still able to manually walk to the team I wish to join. As commander all the hotkeys work just fine... but when I try to place ANYTHING down whether it be a cyst or building or whatever nothing happens... I am also able to hold down alt to talk. I know that my keyboard is working in the game since I am able to type, hotkeys work fine, and I can press alt to talk. This was not happening before and I did not change any of my settings which makes it so frustrating because this happened out of nowhere. The weird thing is that this seems to happen only when I join a particular server, in many other servers I do not have this problem. Help please!
