Acid Blabbers

I don't exactly know what blabbers are for. Are they meant to protect gorges? Provide support in an attack? They die easily and they're kind of hopeless when it comes to killing something. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it isn't just for keeping as pets or used as pests for awhile.
I was thinking of making blabbers a little more dreaded by making them explode and spray acid in a small radius. They only spill acid when they're killed or die because of their short lifespan (sort of pop like a pinata). The acid only damages armour and is a compensation for bile bombs when aliens are in a tight situation (in particular arc trains). Of course there are some balancing already in place such as the fact you have to spend money on the blabbers and the fact they have to die to spill acid (if they don't die then they'll continue to bite along)
