<div class="IPBDescription">Just got destroyed</div> the teams were like 5 - 3 each time with my team having 5 people.. the other team was a clan named [LOW] whom I thought were very good. I stayed on the server awhile and they are good marines and aliens.
They just beat me to death... I got a few kill's, but they were insane.
the starting game I was alien,but they already had it won bassically and destroyed me. as a fade and skulk..
The times I was marine they just ripped apart all are defenses and we never got more than 2 resource towers at once...
In the last game I went Kharaa and it was just me and another vs. 4 guys, 1 in the clan. I was laggin like mad and just told the guy in the clan that he was really good and in the 30 or so games I've played I've never seen any better players than him and his clan.. He than told me he sucks and doubts that lol...
makes me feel like I suck now. : (
The games only been out for what a month? how could they be so much better than me?

If they were on as a clan, then they've most likely learned to work really well as a team. Maybe they've just been playing together for so often that each member knows what to do almost instinctively.
If one skulk runs up the wall, the other alien players in the room of that clan might know that it means a marine is coming. If an Onos does the hokey-pokey with the <i>left</i> foot first, maybe that means he's waiting for one more Fade before the attack. There's usually lots of signals that clan members learn throughout the games they play together.

Chances are, you didn't lose because of anything you did or didn't do. A clan that works well together is basically one powerful cohesive unit, with each member knowing just who to kill and where to go. Individual players on the opposing team who just joined a random server simply have very little chance of fending off a well-orchestrated clan-controlled attack.
as for whoever suggested going for a full server of 20 people, thats ludacris.. my computer has trouble sometimes with servers with max 10 people and low pings (like 80) 20 is just too many... 500mhz,256MB SDRAM max supported by mobo), geforce4mx 420 PCI(dont have agp), and dsl (thank god)
I know it is horrible, but I can get by for awhile till I get a job.
thanks guys.heh.. now I feel stupid cause I didnt think of the fact that it's a team based game and clans are teams.
For the record, I think this is a really strange way of looking at things. Any game of NS should be an accurate portrayal of NS gameplay (as long as the teams are balanced anyway)...

Dude, your computer can easily handle 20+ players. Set your resolution to 800X600 or if you have to 640X480. Make sure you use the faster options in the various graphics settings.
The half-life engine is OLD and is made for much "crappier" computers then that. Yes, NS does push the envelope of the HL engine, but there's no reason you can't play on larger servers.
If it lags NETWORK lag (use the network graphs to see your frames per second. If they're high enough but it feels laggy, it's network.) then you need to tweak your net settings.
A 3 v 3 in general has money on the aliens.....
whereas,
by the time you hit say, 9 v 9/ 10 v 10, marines are looking at good odds (as they have enough, to do multiple objectives, whilst wandering around in squads)

It's 640x480... I changed many settings from the tech supports FPS pinned post and I dont run any background programs while playing... I can play witht that many people, but it's very hard if we go in big groups.. I ussually have trouble fighting end game because I get very very laggy... my comp is just stupid
