Mineshaft - Delete Cave or Rework It

This is my suggestion.

Delete cave. If Aliens spawn in it, they loose. I would attempt to say something more helpful, but the only other suggestion is a massive rework so Cave is not so horribly far away from everything else.

The rework to the rest of Mineshaft did help, but Cave is still a death sentence.

If I sound angry, I am. The joke is, this suggestion is still fair even if I wasn't, as Cave is a loss for Aliens nearly every time.

    Cave a death sentence? you can easily get repair if you have a few buddies camp out there, however the general tactic I use in pubs is to get a gorge to clog/hydra up deposit... Boom, 3 tech points secured and you can cyst into double from a multitude of directions. Deposit is the win/lose room for aliens, its easy to defend once mines come out and it's extremely close to the next alien-side techpoint so if you don't get it early on, you simply have to take repair or it's game over, man!

    There has been discussion before about reworking the layout around Cave hive. You are right, it can be a tough spawn for aliens. It's just that a big layout change like that would be a lot of work and take a lot of time. The changes to Mineshaft in this patch were intended to be minimal and aimed at improving pub play for the map.

    On the bright side I believe the improvements to gorge tunnels in 244 will help alleviate this issue somewhat. The cyst cost to reach each of the natural RTs for Sorting VS Cave hive is actually somewhat similar, it's just the travel time to defend can be lengthy (since it's uphill both ways out of cave skulks are not as fast).

    It is good to hear that the Cave is being considered for a rework. As you said, uphill, very lentghy to get anywhere, and it costs a ton to cyst as well. It also has no natural RT points anymore along with expanding being a massive pain.

    I will completely admit that the changes in this patch are highly helpful, as it does do a lot of work for some core issues. Tis a shame that Mineshaft in general just has a lot of issues to work for Aliens, as the map can be interesting. For the 244 Gorge Tunnels, they did help but not nearly enough. Marines get a hold on Central Drilling so bloody easy and no amount of Gorge Tunnels from Cave will save it.

    Anyways, I am a bit annoyed at my own thread now. Not much to say but wait for a rework for the map and I would have liked to say something simpler.
