HD 7770 1024MB worse than GF 8800 GTS 640MB?

My GeForce graphics card has broken few days ago and I decided to buy a new one. Few people advised me to buy "the best" choice for PCI-E x16 - AMD Radeon HD 7770 1024MB. Any difference?

- I was receiving about 50-70fps in the game
- Now i get 30-55fps and additional warps
- Issues with textures loading (can see some white little stars on a walls/other textures' edges)

I've also installed the newest drivers for it and turned vertical sync off.

Help??????

Seems to be OK now. I reinstalled my Mainboard chipset drivers, now it's fine. Can be closed.

I remember endlessly drooling over the 8800GT. Could never afford one... Instead played BF2 on a 5200. Anyone that owned an 8800GT was a god in my eyes.

I had 8800GT from Gigabyte, and it was the worst GPU I ever had. I was unlucky enough to get a revision with faulty VRAM (it was acknowledged later, when the card was out of warranty), so certain games (like Dominions 3) did not work at all with it. Moreover, its cooler RPM regulation did not work (Gigabyte probably knew it was prone to overheating), so it was always on 100%, making hellish racket. I remember the relief when I sold it to some poor sod and replaced it with GTX275.

I still have my old 9800gt, a die shrunk revised but still basically a 8800gt. It is still not a bad card givin its age.

I miss my old 8800gt, unfortunately it went under during portal 2 of all things.

My 8800GTS 320 out of the box ran at 40% fan speed all the time, even at 72°C load. No 2d/3d clock profiles either by default. It died in the end...

I got my 8800GT when it first came out. I remember snatching it on Newegg right as it came back into stock. The cards were originally priced at $300 but I got mine for $330 because of the high demand.

That thing lasted me from November 2007 to December 2012. The card still runs fine but it was time for an upgrade. That was by far the best $330 I've ever spent on a computer part. I loved how it rivaled the $600 8800 Ultras of the day.

My only issue with it was the terrible reference cooler nVidia made for it. The thing would constantly overheat (100C!) if you really pushed it. I ended up getting a massive third party heatsink for it. I ziptied a 120mm fan to it and I was ready for business. I never saw the temps go beyond 65C with the custom cooler.
