Deception Upgrades for the Onos

Whenever I go Onos I am experiencing a small doubt which I am sure many of you have. What deception upgrade to pick? Celerity and carapace are a no-brainer, but silence and camouflage both seem useless. Although silence claims to turn you totally silent with the Onos it fails to get rid of the screen-shaking "thumping". And as far as camouflage is concerned there aren't many reasons for an Onos to go into hiding, or for that matter places to hide in.

So I wonder NS2 community, what do you pick for your Onos? Silence has no benefit because when a Marine's screen starts shaking they're bound to look around and can hardly miss the 20 tonnes beast charging at them. Camouflage doesn't work because the only time an Onos isn't in combat or running is when he's being healed by Crags or a Gorge. In the case of the Crags there is usually a shade present and in cause of the Gorge people will fire at the gorge, thereby revealing you.

What is the best option?

Camo can be useful if you need to get away and heal and for the "lulz" of appearing right in front of an unsuspecting marine.

I'll go for adrealine-silence-cara. Sometimes camo-adre to take exo(s) from behind.

I like camo - there are some hallways you can cover the entire walkway and marine groups don't know until they bumped into you >:D

Silence. The screen shaking effect doesn't have nearly the range the immense "THUUUMP THUUMP THUUMP" sound has. Atleast this is the impression I've got.

Camo is great fun as Ograit mentioned, surprising exos. With camo you actually have a shot at killing a dual exo. If you don't get the first hit in before dual exo starts shooting at you, you're dead. Problem is it only works once, after that the exo and his mates are gotta keep tapping every corridor and corner with a bullet or two, eliminating hiding places.

Not to mention, if you're using camo as an Onos that means you have time to sneak around. Usually when you first get an Onos you're BUSY BUSY BUSY doing all that stuff other lifeforms couldn't get done.

I like Camo, because "SUPRISE ONOS!!" is one of my favorite things to do. Especially against an EXO where their only real chance is when they get you at range. Lumbering Exo down a hallway, welder is off taking point everything seems safe... SUPRISE ONOS!!!!

Silence to me seems very slightly useful in all situations and camo seems quite useful in barely any situations. So I guess it's situationalism vs a solid all-purpose upgrade.

That will definitely give the marines something to go "Oh nos" about.

I always go for the camo. Silence is totally useless for the onos. At least with camo I can troll marines. :)

silence.. it can be very silent without the speedloss.
Also the partial be seen thingy of cloak is easier to spot on a bigger object like a onos.

Also celerity a no brainer as onos? Nonononono.
On live, celerity does not work when you are in combat.
Have you seen the onos, its huge. It will always get shot. So it will always be in combat, making celerity not work.
Adrenaline givers you more energy to charge which will very much work in combat!

    Like I said.. silence. :)

Doesn't silence cause structure attacks to not give an audible warning to comms? I like to attack structures as an onos...

I think this got changed, not sure though.

As much as I hate camo, I think it takes the cake for onos, silence doesn't seem that useful on something that doesn't exactly have the size or mobility for stealth.
