The biggest problem I have with it is that neither NS1 or NS2 have very engaging combat mechanics. It doesn't cater well to deathmatch-style carnages, so taking out the depth makes only for a sub-par shooter. This is the same reason I do not and did not enjoy combat at all, but combat nonetheless feels less retarded than siege.
Quake supposedly has the "most engaging combat mechanics" in a deathmatch. Even so, it's still 90% aim. Every shooter it's about aim. I suppose you really appreciate the subtle little things. But it doesn't make a game retarded lacking those.
If you want a sub-par shooter, check out Call of Battlefields, where the winning move is strafe left or right accompanied by pressing M1 the right moment.
It's not the aim, of course I respect aim. But the fact that there are only two weapons for the marines (GL and FT don't really count) with no recoil, no spread, no projectile drop, no nothing, and there really is no engaging movement mechanic for the marines. The movement of aliens is slightly more engaging, but only for the fade and the lerk, and even those feel a bit lackluster in my opinion. The alien weapons deserve no mention, for obvious reasons.
Can you really see NS2, or NS1 for that matter, competing with any other capable shooter if the combat mod was the only core gameplay? I know I'd rather be playing both Battlefield and any modern CoD over NS2 if it only came to the shooter mechanics.
Recoil, spread and projectile drop are generally very unintersting. I'd much rather play with the ns weapons any day. Even marine vs marine (combat) was super enjoyable in ns1.
Then we're talking about apples and oranges here. While enjoyable in a context of map control, positioning and tech, pure deathmatch-style combat in NS1 and NS2 is, in my opinion, extremely boring. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Well there used to be an entity leak of some sort in EEM I think. The same thing would happen to most of the res nodes and some of the tech points as well unless the map got reloaded after each game. But this was all the way back when the map was new, and was promptly fixed. Does this occur during the first game after the map loads, or only on the second / third?
yea.. siege back in ns 1 was great. Maybe if fades had acid rocket enabled in siege, it would make it fair for having 10+ exos. Wh the hate for siege? It's meant to fun...
In other news I have a new siege map nearing completion. If timers get fixed, I'll try and publish it tomorrow. I'm trying a lot of new things with this map and I'm not sure how it will turn out!
Would be most handy if you could post the mod id in the description as its a ball ache having to subscribe, load the game, download it, then check the folder name.
On another note, thanks for spending the time to make the maps.

Is it still doing it?
If so, then it must be something to do with either the map, or consistency checking
This is the mapcycle...

If thats wrong, then the map must be bugged. FYI I am using 4920 build and not 4940, not sure if that is relevant.
Just to show it is hivesiege and not classic

Of course timers are still broken I think so it is no more playable right now than my other siege maps.

Yup. It sure is. Until recently I've had to do the same thing even for my own mods to get the ID. I've added mod id to the main 3 siege maps.
You are a legend. Thanks mate
