Stuck in "Authenticating..."

For some reason, I keep getting stuck in the Authenticating part of the join process when trying to access a server. Tried restarting Steam, my computer, the game and nothing.

Any idea?

    Firstly, post this in Technical Support Forum. You could also try sending IronHorse a PM. He's awesome and deals with most tech support questions :)

    Have you checked your mods list. make sure they're all turned off and try again.
    Failing that, delete your mods directory (i'm not sure where it is myself as i've not had any issues thus far, i'm sure someone else can point you to it).
    Naturally you should also verify game cache in steam, though i doubt this will be the problem.

    Is anything coming up in the console?

    Typically the authentication process is entirely on steam's end.. often waiting a good few minutes should clear up the issue.
    How long have you waited?
    And do you have steam cloud enabled?

    Sometimes steam servers shut down (maintenance,...) if the player is not removed correctly from a server (crash, ...) during a steam server reboot some bugs can occur with steam authentication (I've experienced a few myself). A quick fix that have worked for me and my friends : start a local server of ns2, once it's loaded you should be able to join other servers.

    Aside from the random game breaking glitch every week, I can't figure this one out.

    - I try to join or create a server it'll eventually give me a "Authentification Failed"
    - I am subscribed to certain mods which are not showing up as Subscribed, I deleted the mod folder and now NO MODs appear subscribed or not.
    - The server list was stuck on History so only 5 servers showed up which were all full, without the mod folder I have 0 servers showing up now.

    The entire game completely broke today, or so I thought, the solution is really simple and its REALLY stupid!

    Steam went haywire and put you into offline mode. Go under Steam Menu Bar up to the top left and hit Go Online...
