Very annoying commander hotkey bug!

Simple as this: if you have a structure selected by hotkey, then press the hotkey again after any amount of time, the screen jumps to the structure. NO, WRONG!

The screen repositioning is supposed to happen only when the key is double-tapped, not when I'm unsure if I already have it selected and press again to make sure.

Play any other good RTS game, it's the way it works.

I can't count the number of times I've missed medpacking opportunities etc. because of these random screen jumps.

Centering the screen to the building is not a very common thing to do, and it shouldn't be priorised in the input system like this. Please make it only happen on double tapping.

This is annoying, but not as much as pressing a hotkey, the structure or unit showing options in the tool panel, then not responding to any queries at all until deselected and reselected.

This isn't a bug or anything, but now that serious performance improvements are arriving with b249 i wish they'd also add something like a right-click-and-hold function to move the camera by moving the mouse. The casters could really make watching matches a smoother ride as they would have an easier time actually following the action. Moving to the edges of the screen and having to click in the map to move the camera isn't exactly very efficient in this regard.

Maybe the title is a bit provocative, but considering the amount of inconvenience caused by this mechanic I would label it as a bug! Also, I'd like to see the middle button scroll happening too. Oh, and the screen scrolling (pointer at the edge of screen) speed should also be able to be adjusted.

You are aware you can click drag on either map to move the screen like you suggest?

Casters can use the movement keys to move the camera. Don't need to move the mouse to the edges of the screen.

Also having c be the key for evolving shade makes me sad... Don't check the map if you have the hive selected

Seriously? Well then i'm glad i asked. This may be one of those things that a lot of people don't know about. I've never seen a caster use this function. I haven't seen any information about this anywhere. It should be added to the info-window while commanding in explore mode.

True. But this function could be A) used to move the camera more accurately and in a smooth motion as opposed to the jumping of the arrow keys, and B) useful for commanders too, who are already busy with the keys on the other side of the keyboard.

It seemed like common sense to be able to click on the map (big or small) and go to that location, so being able to hold the mouse down and drag it around kind of followed that...

Either rebind the map key or do what I do for my voice key "V" and press "Q" EVERY TIME you want to use the map (in my case talk).
Many buildings were recycled in the discovery of this technique.

The selection bugs are by far a bigger issue. Very, very poorly implemented selection system.

But I hate this one as well.

Fix the Commander bugs UWE! :(

Just saying it makes me so mad and frustrated, ever tried controlling ARCs that just won't listen!?

OP: that's a feature request but not a bug, but i agree non the less

I think OP means that it happens after a long duration of time, double tapping is fine, but having selected something 20s ago then pressing the key again and having it take you there is against standard RTS gameplay.

Ah, then i guess there's been a misunderstanding. That you can click-and-hold-move the cam while holding C is something most commanders probably learn quick. What i meant with my idea though was to be able to move the camera accurately just by watching overhead like standard as a spectator or com; without looking on the map. It's obviously not very elegant to have to bring a map covering half the screen every time you want to move the camera accurately.

Ah of course, I forgot that only the commander has the minimap he can use to drag the screen around, and that the spectator has not.

EDIT: Wait a minute..the spectator DOES have a minimap (is this new?). So you can still do what I suggested as a spectator, it may not be as accurate since it's on a tiny map, but you can achieve the effect.
