Just a poll for funsies since it is just around the corner and the important features in the BT mod are finally on lock down for now. So as the mod is in its current state how do you feel it will impact the game's remaining population?

I also believe that a multiplayer game requires a certain "critical mass" of players to keep it going, and I think we are already very, very close to falling below that lower limit. I think that the new patch will, when the new wears off, bring us to that point.
You don't patch a game to get people to come back, you patch a game to keep the currently players around. Which is where this patch can shine or fail utterly. Too much of a change will just make players not want to relearn everything and give it up entirely.
This game hit critical mass a month or two after the patch. Not as if we didn't see it coming.
I think this next update will make players leave and will also make existing players come back to check it out. So it should all even out.
Well on the east coast we are still holding on a bit. It's nearly 12am so it is okay for the time. In the day during prime time it is usually better but it is SUBSTANTIALLY less than before where the server list was far longer.
Idk about the player count though. There are always some players that do not want to relearn everything or prefer vanilla that will take off but some might be interested by the new techniques. Guess we will find out a few weeks after the BT mod when the dust has settled.
Seriously, after the BT update NS2 will be an overall better game.
But I can understand people can finally get irritated when something they like and that worked isn't improved, but instead replaced by something quite different.
Aww man I loved that game and the classes. I wish there was another like it. I can't remember exactly why I quit though. Part of me remembers that it had something to do with hackers driving me insane.
SD is doing a wolf:et remake called Dirty Bomb. I'm in the private alpha for it, its fantastic. Very true to the original
WHAT, thanks for letting me know!
v57!
If they just released BT without doing that, that would be pretty dumb. I have high hopes for BT!
I quite remember qw...sd quite exhausted my loyalty with that one. please tell me it doesn't resemble that at all. and pleaSE tell me ff is going to be perma on.
edit: The largest change that most people will notice straight away is player movement. Other changes to tech were essential, but player movement makes it feel like a different game.
And just like gorgeous, the player count went up during the sale/free weekend or whatever it was (who would have thunk), then tanked 15%-20% shortly after the new patch smell wore off.
The same thing will happen with this patch.
shutup negative nancy and come play!
or are you scared I'll kick your washed up butt
gotta wait till newbie weekend is over to gauge. I've been going 20:1 when I haven't been tinkering with comming, and haven't lost a game comming yet... and that's really only from doing what an average veteran should be doing, like building res and encouraging harass and med drops. give it time.
