need help with view ports

to be simple and direct, when i create something in my prospective window, all my other view ports don't show anything, my guess is that they are located some other place that is not located on the item i am creating. is there a particular button i can hit to reset the view port back to center or something?

any help would be much appreciated!

use 'z' to centre a viewport on what you currently have selected. Just make sure you have focus in that viewport.
