(Not reproducible) Can't place cysts mid-game

I've had this happen to me twice, once on Veil and once on Tram. As the Alien Khammader, I was unable to cyst into System Waypointing from Sub Sector, and I was unable to cyst from Elevator Transfer into Observation.

I jumped out of the hive, and I even had someone jump in both times and had them try to cyst into the area and they both also failed. We were able to cyst around the map everywhere else, just not in that direction. Unfortunately in both cases, I didn't try cysting into the area from the other direction... (ie instead of E.T. to Obs, go from South Tunnels into Obs.)

Now that I remember it, I'm confident we were playing on the NSL version of those maps. Also it was running NSStats.

What resolution are you playing with? It could be you and him having that annoying bug of invis blocks.

EDIT: Or was that fixed? Either way, sounds annoying -_-

I've only seen this happen on certain servers. particularly ones with certain mods installed. have you got this on non-modded servers?

If you have to many structures nearby you reach an entity limit and can't place a cyst there anymore... So if auto cyst tries to connect through this area it can't...

I've had this be a problem so I echod some stuff around an was able to continue...

Is the explanation mad max is offering workable or are there two different bugs at work here?

I have had this bug also. I experienced this heavy my very first match this patch.
I even reported it in sews topic, and asumed it was fixed in a balance mod build while he changed nothing.

Since then ive been trying to reproduce this bug to no use.

Having dropped a Hive in Elevator (starting Server Room at that time) and trying to cyst down to Observation was a no go, I've encountered this serveral times in 251.

Was this on the vanilla tram or NSL version?
    If vanilla:
Please grab a screenshot of where this happens with "nav_debug" entered in the console (without quotation marks)
    Thanks!

vanilla for me Iron, I think I have screenshots somewhere saved but no nav_debug. (if have used if I knew it existed.) Was unable to reproduce.
    here ya go.

    Additional info:

    * The problem is shared. We had a kham who suddenly could not cyst out. I hopped in to try myself and had the same problem. So the problem seems to exist server side.
    * Cysts show green as placable, so I expect its something with the server thinking we can not place while the client thinks overwise?
    * used nav_debug but never used it so... was a bit tough. Unfortunately I didnt get any real screenshots with nav debug on. I kept trying with nav debug to place cycts on the intersections on the lines and 'suddenly' was able to cyst again.
    * The original comm could after that also cyst.
    * I just realised I did not try to use a long cyst chain, but I tried to cyst one at a time. Perhaps related.

Will keep a eye on it. Was, to my knowledge, a onmodded rookie server.

So, there was a bug that came up in 251 testing that caused a similar behaviour. What would happen was a cyst would fall through the floor and this would break the chain it was attached to. The cyst had to be automatically placed, and it had to end up on a prop with some specific properties.

If you are trying to reproduce this there is a nice little command that highlights parts of the map that could cause problems simply put on debugcyst and it should give you nice red boxes that highlight potentially problematic props. Almost all of them will be false positives and cysts will not fall through them.

I recall the fixes primarily being in the maps. So, if you find places that cysts fall through when automatically placed, screenshot them and put that bad boy in here. There is also an error message that I can't recall. I remember it being pretty obvious if you got it though. So, Try to get a log in about the whole thing.

You guys would not believe the number of hours I have spent auto cysting maps at this point:)

While I doubt this is the problem, as I also experienced it firsthand as first comm and I dont autocyst..

But yes, I will add it to my checklist,. :)
