Hybrid Alien Vision

I'm one of those that can only play properly using Alien Vision (yes I know...)
However when I accidentally forget to turn it on I'm reminded how beautiful the maps are textured and colored.
Alien vision is supposed to make the game "easier" in the sense that you can easier see the enemy in dark light and tell them apart from the background.
My idea:
- Make a hybrid alien vision where it will make the green effect only on areas where it would otherwise be dark - more like an ambient green color as the minimum light level.
- Show marine outlines just like the characters in Left4Dead 2 are drawn.
You get all the benefits of the alien vision system (seeing enemies and seeing in the dark) while preventing the game from looking like an unlit untextured game so you can actually enjoy the beautiful levels.
Another things is that as marine I don't even recognize the same areas I've previously been to as alien because only remember the green-shaded environments (my spatial thinking skills are weird - I know).
