<div class="IPBDescription">.3ds export?</div> well...im trying to learn how to model at the moment and im usin gmax. is there a way of exporting as a .3ds file from gmax?

no gmax uses a generic format, but if you have the q3 tempest plugin for gmax then you can export as .md3 and then convert that format using something like milkshape

yes there is
you just have to get a SCRIPTFILE wich allows you to export *.3ds from Gmax. i dont know exacly the URL but i think is this one:

yeah, all i found was like 3-4 importers...
