Most alien creatures/structures are "blacked out" in the menu and tutorial

Ever since b252 I've had this weird graphics bug where certain alien creatures and buildings are just black blocks (when Bloom is on) or black silhouettes (when Bloom is off). This is only when D3D11 or OpenGL is on. This only occurs in the menu or the tutorial, in-game on a server everything is just fine.

As seen here the Drifter is normal when D3D9 is on.

My system specs:

Intel i5 3750k CPU OC 4.4 ghz @ 1.24v
XFX 7970 Ghz Edition Double D GPU OC 1.2ghz core/1.6ghz mem
Asus z77 Sabertooth mobo
8gb (2x4) Corsair Vengence 2133mhz DDR3 mem
Samsung 840 250gb SSD (boot drive and where NS2 is installed)
Western Digital Black 1TB Sata 2 HDD (where Steam is installed)
Western Digital Black 2TB Sata 3 HDD (extra)

With OpenGL on

With D3D11 on

As mentioned this doesn't happen on an actual server, only on my PC in the menu or in the Tutorial. This show here is a Skulk (I assume) in the tutorial.

Note: Only the Skulk and Gorges were "blacked out" the Lerk and Fade were not and were completely visible as a Marine in the tutorial. Also all of the tutorial screenshots were while D3D11 was on.

When I jumped to the alien side the mouths/first person view were also affected!

I noticed it was affecting all of the buildings too! (supposed to be the hive)

I started to play with the graphics options, and noticed that the big blockiness was scaled all the way back to the normal silhouette when Bloom was turned off.

I forgot to take more screen shots, but even the Lerk's mouth/first person view was black despite the in game model being normal while I was playing as a Marine.

The error you are seeing is what happens when a shader does not compile on your graphics hardware.

this is either caused by something broken in your drivers, a mod, or a bad or corrupt copy of those shaders.

Verify your cache, disable any mods you have, and update your drivers.

Sorry to post to this old thread, but I just updated to 14.2 and on a whim thought to see if that old bug I was having (see first post) was still there....and it is :/
I have no mods installed, I've verified my game cache, and like I said I just updated my drivers (completely swiped the old ones and freshly installed the new).

this is a shader problem ( i think). Delete the place where the shader cache for the game is (I think drive/users/user/appdata/roaming/natural selection 2 ), verify the game cache, and then reoptomize the shaders.

Is there anything in particular I need to do to reoptimize the shaders?

EDIT: I just wiped the cache, reverified everything in steam, and still having the problem.
