The opposite of all other COMM threads
ns_bast
There was about 14 players on the server, which i think was max at the time, and I belive the teams were balanced. Thus I had six trusty marines at my disposal after we had decided to have me as COMM. The first sign of my tactical genius came almost immediatly, as I strategically decided to drop a new Command Chair instead of a Turret Factory in the middle of spawn, right after getting the spawns up.
Obviously strengthened by their COMM's dedication and knowledge, my marines went off and secured a bunch of resources and a hive for me. Our further attacking ground to a halt however, as we stumbled upon some massive Alien structures. The marines dug in and I decided to siege the infested room.
Cleverly I placed the first Turret Factory not on the ground, but on an inaccessible railing in the ceiling. My marines were so awed by this accomplishment that they seemed to have trouble to stop laughing when I finally got resources for a second one more conventionally placed on the floor.
This was just the beginning of my siege failures. The first ST didn't seem to have much effect, so I placed another... then another, before I realised they actually didn't have any effect at all. The sige turret bug was in effect and my marines had to clear out the room the old fashioned way. Later I would top this by putting up no less then five faulty siege turrets at the same place, possibly some sort of record.
After a couple of players dropped the teams were for a period very unbalanced in the favor of the aliens, but even with so few players to check on I managed to miss the tiny detail of us losing the third hive (feedwater). However I was quick enough on the uptake to give my troops a full 5 seconds warning before the first Onos showed up.
So now we're trapped in spawn, acid rockets flying, and Onos stampeding outside. My troopers put up a valiant fight however and the battle is a stalemate for about half an hour. After my men had comforted me I sat back and saved up for some HA and HMG's, this took a while with only one resource node...
Teams are at this point somewhat smaller then when we started, because it is getting very late. We only have 4 marines now, soon only 3. I equip two of them with HA and HMG's, as well as welders of course. After managing to slay some Onos we decide to launch an attack instead.
The two HA marines bravely venture out into the Main Aft Corridor, which looks like an Alien Chamber Fanatics convention. After some amazing teamwork from the two fighters, they manage to clear the room, and I disbelievingly set a waypoint to the nearest hive, Engine Room.
Unfortunately, they don't make it all the way, but they manage to at least hurt the hive before the pressure of Onos becomes to great. However, during this time I have saved up enough resources to re-equip them, and we make a new attempt, with a third player that has just joined, and they take it! I hastily set up Engine Room to be secondary base (I actually ment to drop a CC this time..). But after we have fortified it the time is after six in the morning here in Sweden, and people have to log off.
The battle lasted over 3 hours, and the only reason it wasn't over for us after a tenth of that time was because the great performance of the marines. Most impressive was actually not the assaulting marines but the lone (and un-equipped) marine that basically held the base himself for an hour against Fades, Lerks and Onoses, and constantly repaired turrets and buildings. I even offered to drop him a better gun when I had the resources but he declined.
Anyway, not all games are good COMM and bad marines, sometimes it's the other way around
The Marines were:
Khieran (?)
[CoFR]Ralphman
[CoFR]Trey_of_Spades (late joiner)
Ushi or Jujji or something (base defender)

err..i mean..at least you tried (wink) lol
I hate it when I place something by accident. Like placing a protolab and burn 50 credits in a second >.<
lol
Should people be able to recycle an unbuilt building? What do u guys think?
But when you put three turret factories in a row underground (yes, this happened), you start to want to recycle all that. Yes, I think unbuilt buildings should be recycled, but for not as much RP.

I have a suggestion. I think the CC should be able to turn into an armored motorcycle thing with 10000 HP and 10000 armor that absorbs 95% like HA. The motorcycle would have missiles and grenade launchers, two HMG's, and spikes on the front so it could do a charge like the onos, except the charge would always be on. I also think it should be able to fly and even go outside the map and back to the dropship. Yeah, that would balance the game, I think.
Despite that pantheon of destruction that you have cobbled up. I guarantee someone will still manage to die to a Skulk while driving it.
