Key Bindings Save but Fail to Re-initialize

I've bound "v" to voice chat. The setting saves such that after I restart the game I see it still bound to "v" in the bindings menu. However when I'm in the game pressing "v" has no effect. If I re-bind it to "v" while in the game it works again. Guessing this log.txt entry might be related:
Error: Attempted to load remote options from a file that does not exist.

I see references on the web to ConsoleBindings.json, though I can't find that anywhere in my ~/.config/Natural Selection 2/ directory.

This is on 64-bit debian/jessie.

    Yep, its a known issue.

    It is even in the linux setup guide.

    The fix is to touch the two files and the game happily works once they are created.

    edit: by two files i mean this also happens with favorite servers.
