Stuck at 'Starting Local Server' - fixed for me.

Hi all,
Just got gifted NS2 by a clanmate, but couldn't get the Training option to work.
I constantly got stuck at the 'Starting local server' point and had to kill the process to get out.
I've read quite a few posts, well 3 hrs worth, to be honest, trying to find a fix for this issue, as it seems a few others are having the exact same issue.
I was fine joining an online server but couldn't create one myself, I could even start a Half Life server, which I believe uses the same IP and ports on my machine.
After reading one post, by Maddin, if I remember correctly, I put it down to my stupid KillerNetworks embedded E2100 LAN chip.
So if you've got the issue and have a KillerNetworks LAN chip then that maybe your issue.
In the KillerNetworks manager program, under the 'application' tab it had set NS2.exe to a priority 1- Highest with an 'allow' option.
I changed this to a priority 3 - Normal and 'allow' and everything is now working fine.
I have no idea why this stopped it starting a local server, but nothing else I tried fixed it.
Hope this helps someone else as it took quite a bit of digging to find that post with that key bit of info in.
Should have known really as I spent quite a lot of time on the phone to my ISP about crud speeds only to find that it was all caused by my KillerNetworks LAN chip.
Cheers
