This happened to me before 258, but rarely, and only on servers with Shine. Now, I get this happening MUCH more frequently and it happened yesterday when I wasn't even on a server, let alone a modded one (me doing "map ns2_mymap...etc").

The only way to fix this that I have found so far is to just reconnect to the server. Once it hits you, it never goes away. Stepping back into the chair (if you can... sometimes you're facing the wrong way) and exiting doesn't work.

EDIT: and before anybody says it, I am well aware that this has already been reported, BUT as a SHINE MOD bug. This is vanilla.

    Reproduction steps would help.
    Also your techsupport zip.
    Are you running multiple monitors?

BeigeAlert, we spent a few hours trying to reproduce this in 258 vanilla the other day and were unable to do so.

It is very simple to reproduce using shine. Can you post your log from having the problem?

Getting that zip now (I think... by running TechSupport.exe right?)

    I am running two monitors.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any reproduction steps, but I'll spend a little time trying to figure it out today.

    EDIT: Here ya go: cdn.vanillaforums.com/unknownworlds.vanillaforums.com/FileUpload/51/54242b90e61f5405b0b3bd501a8277.zip

EDIT2: I doubt it's relevant to this problem, but nearly every time I close the editor (normally, or with the X in the corner) it brings up a crash report dialog, as if it didn't close right.

Okay here's what I think happened: I was showing a friend of mine (who hasn't seen ns2 before) my map, and when I hopped in the chair to show him what commander view was like, I forgot that there wasn't any heightmap exported yet, so commander view does nothing. When I hopped out, it did the cursor thing. I can confirm that (at least on my map), getting out of the chair will do this every single time, regardless of team. So that might be something to look into: nil heightmap value causes weird mouse bug. THEN, when my friend left, I went and played a real match on one of the TGNS servers, (which DOES use shine), and I guess it was just a coincidence that it happened to do the bug to me the very first time, so I assumed the two were related.

So repro steps: 1) get a map that has no heightmap for commander cameras 2) get in and get out of the chair.

So uh... sorry about that! I also tested the (VERY out of date, btw) version of my map that's on the workshop (that DOES have minimap and heightmap) and it worked just fine, no bug.

I am also desperated to fix this. And TGNS uses Shine (just in their own mod). But your infos could be really helpfull.

I'd like to throw in that I don't think it has anything to do with multiple monitors, as I've seen many different people having this problem... although I'm just guessing that they don't have a multi monitor setup... (it's not THAT common, right?)

Also, when I got out of the chair in my map and it messed up, the console goes crazy with error messages. The same one, thousands of times. It's complaining about the height map being a nil value or something like that, so it must be some code after whatever line is trying to retrieve the height map that can't be reached anymore because of the errors (just a guess though...)
